Does having osteoporosis eliminate the possibility of receiving chiropractic care?

To comprehend osteoporosis better, it's essential to recognise that bone density decreases, resulting in reduced bone strength. As a consequence, everyday activities can pose a significant risk to individuals with this condition, as even minor incidents or falls can lead to fractures.
Many individuals seek chiropractic care to address spinal issues and enhance their overall health and well-being. Typically, chiropractors perform 'adjustments' on the spine in areas where the joints are not functioning normally, a condition known as subluxation or spinal imbalance. This procedure aims to restore regular joint movement, improve spinal biomechanics, and positively influence the central nervous system's function. Preventing Osteoporosis - Reducing Your Risk

Preventing osteoporosis is of paramount importance as there is currently no cure for this condition. To lower your risk of developing osteoporosis and experiencing fractures, consider the following:

  1. Maintain a well-balanced diet, emphasizing natural, whole foods.
  2. Ensure adequate intake of Vitamin D to facilitate calcium absorption, with safe sunlight exposure being the best source.
  3. Engage in weight-bearing, high-impact, and strengthening exercises such as yoga, walking, pilates, and weight training.
  4. If appropriate, undergo a bone density test.
  5. Consult your healthcare provider regarding the potential bone-loss side effects of any medications you are taking.
  6. Avoid smoking.
  7. Limit alcohol consumption.
